VELO vs LYFT: What is the Difference?
Nicotine pouches are growing in popularity. These pouches contain nicotine, but do not contain tobacco and are completely smoke-free. Two of the most popular brands are LYFT nicotine pouches and VELO nicotine pouches. But what is the difference between the two? While both of these are produced by BAT (British American Tobacco), we uncover the differences in flavours and strengths as well as cover the history of the brands.
The History of LYFT and VELO
BAT (the manufacturer of both LYFT and VELO) launched nicotine pouches into the UK market in 2018. In most of Europe (including Sweden) these pouches were launched as LYFT, and in the US these pouches were launched as VELO. Both brands gained traction in their regions, but it presented an issue as while the products were similar, they were being marketed under two different names depending on region.
In 2020, BAT decided to transition to marketing all their pouches under the brand VELO in all countries except Sweden.
However, fast-forward to 2022 and LYFT has made a return in several markets including the UK. LYFT has a new range of products, focusing on unique flavours and artisan nicotine pouches.
What is the Difference Between the New LYFT and VELO?
VELO Nicotine Pouches
VELO has the original range of nicotine pouches that both brands offered (for example, you can still buy LYFT Freeze, but it is now VELO Freeze).
VELO has a selection of 7 different flavours:
- Velo Freeze Ultra 14mg (formerly LYFT Freeze)
- Velo Ice Cool Strong (formerly LYFT Ice Cool)
- Velo Polar Mint 10mg (formerly LYFT Polar Mint)
- Velo Urban Vibe 6mg (formerly LYFT Urban Vibe)
- Velo Ruby Berry 10MG Slim Extra Strong (formerly LYFT Ruby Berry)
- Velo Royal Violet Mini
- Velo Tropical Breeze 10mg
You can find VELO pouches in either a mini or slim pouch size and 4 different strengths:
- Less Intense: 4mg of nicotine per pouch.
- Medium: 6mg of nicotine per pouch.
- Strong: 10mg of nicotine per pouch.
- Extra Strong: 11mg of nicotine per pouch.

LYFT
The new LYFT brand was reintroduced to the UK in 2022, with 3 artisan flavours:
- Just Bloom
- Barista Twist
- Cool Air
These pouches are available in a slim pouch size in either regular (5.6mg/pouch) or strong (9.6mg/pouch) nicotine strength.
Are VELO or LYFT Snus?
Both VELO and LYFT are nicotine pouches, not snus. Snus pouches contain tobacco, but both LYFT and VELO are tobacco-free (but still contain nicotine).
How to Choose Between VELO and LYFT
Deciding between the two will probably come down to two factors: the strength you want and the flavour.
